This Picnic Past
This past Sunday we had an all SALT fellowship after church. For those of you who don't know "SALT" stands for Serving And Learning Together. Out under the drive up we had tables and chairs sitting out and food in the atrium. People gathered, ate and became merry! That is what we call a picnic at B.H.B.C. I hope that everyone attended! If you didn't you missed out on a lot of fun!
The food that was brought by the members of the church was placed on the tables in the atrium, two lines were formed for everyone to fill their plates and stuff their faces. Which is not an insult, I assure you. If one is caught shoveling food into their mouths at a church picnic that is a good thing; that just goes to show you that the food is that good! If you are wondering if there was dessert as well... of course! What kind of people would we be if there wasn't?? The refreshments were outside and easy to grab once one found a comfy spot surrounded by family and friends to set their plate.
I must take this time to thank those who brought all the delicious food that was there to be eaten! Thank you! I hope that we can do this again sometime soon.
After we were done eating the men were rounded up to play a game of football. No, ladies and gentleman, not flag football, but tackle!! And yes, you guessed it, Pastor Don played as well! Amazing huh? Who would have thought a reserved man like him would want to play tackle football? I must tip my hat in his direction (if I actually wore one) though because he played like the best of them. He gave out orders like the great football coach Vince Lombardi (yes I googled that, I don't actually know who he is, sorry). He was also very vicious, to quote him, "Go for their throats!" But it was all in good fun! Nobody actually lost a throat!
There was a great debate though, about the game. Pastor didn't want girls to play because he didn't want them to get hurt, which is very nice, but to say 'no girls allowed' is like the biggest challenge ever! And that challenge was met by Becca Boss. Once she heard the 'no girls allowed' rule she immediately changed her clothes and raced onto the field. And I must say (no biased intended) that she played really well, better than some of the guys out there. Also to quote pastor, "Who's blocking Becca? Who's on Becca? Get on Becca!" It was a very amusing site to watch.
All of the guys out on the field did really great! I witnessed some amazing throws, (some were launched from one end to the other) catches and tackles; yes tackles, even as painful as they looked, they were amazing. Everyone walked away sweaty but smiling. No injuries, all is well.
I hope that maybe next time we can play flag or two hand touch?
I must also add that we do not just eat and play football at these gatherings. The picnics here at B.H.B.C are a great time to fellowship. Just to talk to your friends and family in Christ. Share things that have happened recently or not so recently. Laugh at funny jokes and not so funny jokes. Tell things that you've witnessed or things that you've read in a Bible passage, in the news paper, or in a book that you're reading. Time to chill and have fun. Talk, pray, love. These picnics are one of my favorite things at church and I look forward to everyone that we have. And I hope that you stat to as well. Go to the next one, you may learn something. And if you don't learn something you may crack a smile or laugh. Who knows? You just have to find out for yourself.
As a matter of fact, I challenge you to go to the next all SALT fellowship and see how you like it. You might be surprised.
You've just got done reading a blog from my point of view, I hope that you've enjoyed reading it. I also hope that I didn't insult anyone; if I have I apologize.
That's all for now, so until next time.. take care and God bless!

Great Job on the Blog!
